My business started with me working with women 1:1 – performing consults and making personalised meal plans. Fast forward nearly 7 years and I run an online business where I sell digital products, containing a signature meal plan that helps hundreds of women a month and a subscription business where I currently help 550 women every single day.
I have been able to scale my business to bring in at least 7 x the amount than I would if I stayed consulting full time, meaning that I’m able to help endless amounts of women and impact thousands of lives, which has always been my dream.
I’ve also been able to build a (mainly virtual) team and work structure that brings balance, freedom to travel and joy to my life daily, but this definitely hasn’t all happened quickly or easily!
Getting to this point in the last 1 to 2 years has made me reflect on all of the things that I would do sooner if I could go back. Here are my top 5…
Outsourcing the tasks that aren’t in your line of genius (ie emails and admin) frees up the time for you to do what lights you up and are the expert at. This is where the scaling can happen for the business, you need to be only doing the money making tasks. This also helps you build a business that brings you joy every day, so that you can wake up and only do the tasks that light you up.
After all, YOU are the one who is creating a business and a life for yourself, you have the ability to make it what you want!
When you work a little less and take more time to take care of yourself, the smaller windows of time are far more focussed and productive – not to mention you prevent burnout and sleep better. I wish I outsourced sooner and knew this for my first 3 years or so of business! I have scaled at a far faster rate when I realised and implemented this.
It can be a lonely world when you don’t have friends that understand your struggles – or who can truly understand and celebrate your wins when you have them. They keep you accountable and inspired – I wish I made the effort to make some earlier! Like minded friends are key.
Get expert help instead of trying to do it all yourself if it’s not in your line of genius. It will save you time and then free up more time for you to do what you’re an expert at! Also, when an expert does what they’re good at for you- your chances of getting results are far higher! Ie building landing pages, facebook ads, copywriting…
In my first few years, I would beat myself up if I made mistakes (which are inevitable). Now, I see them as amazing lessons and an opportunity for growth – which means that I don’t get down on myself when I make a mistake! You can’t grow without trying – and trying means making mistakes and getting back up again – only to come back stronger.
For seven years Bec struggled with weight fluctuations, a slow thyroid and chronic digestive issues. As a healthy young woman who visited multiple GPs and specialists WHILST studying nutrition – it drove her crazy to say the least. It took around 4 years of her own research, and finally finding the right functional medic doctor to discover that she had a multitude of food intolerances, an out of whack microbiome and a slow thyroid. Only then was she able to heal myself and find a way of eating that kept the foodie side of her happy, her bloating at bay (this was life changing), her energy sustained and her weight stable easily.
