We

We’re often asked about the story behind our name, ‘We Are Emersyn.’ It’s more than just a name; it’s a reflection of our belief in the boundless potential of every female founder.
Emersyn, meaning ‘brave, powerful, and ruler of the world.’
We are brave, stepping outside our comfort zones to pursue our dreams. We are powerful, harnessing our unique strengths to build businesses that matter.
And together, We Are Emersyn, challenging the status quo and creating our own path to success.
We know first hand the unique challenges that women face. Despite making up 38% of entrepreneurs in Australia, women still struggle to thrive due to obstacles like lack of funding, limited networks and support, balancing responsibilities, fear of failure, and a lack of knowledge.
It’s clear why women are underrepresented in entrepreneurship.
We believe in fostering a culture of innovation and unwavering confidence, equipping you with the skills and mindset to make bold decisions and navigate challenges with resilience.
After leaving my corporate life and co-founding a successful marketing agency, I found there was a lack of visible female entrepreneurs and role models. I started to seek out support networks and attended a few women’s networking groups, but they weren’t for me and it wasn’t what I was looking for.
This led to We Are Emersyn, which started out as Behind the Brands in 2018 as a blog that aimed to shine a spotlight on female entrepreneurs and offer tips and advice.
After having an amazing mentor for 12 months I was ready for something new and floated the idea of starting a peer to peer mentoring group. Being around like minded women and finally having that support system that I needed was a turning point. And discovering that the others in the peer to peer mentoring group thought the same.
From there we expanded our peer to peer mentoring programs and had 5 of them running including one in Ballarat.
In 2021 we ran a community female founders hub over a period of 12 weeks in partnership with the City of Canning and had over 400 registrations. The insight we got was that the women wanted almost like an apprenticeship in entrepreneurship and that’s how our accelerator programs came to be.
No one understands the rollercoaster ride of being a female founder, quite like other female founders do. Your support system and network is critical to your success. And we’re not talking about those huge Facebook groups where everyone has an opinion. (good advice is welcome, but it’s sometimes hard to find, right?!)
And that’s why with We Are Emersyn we are committed to increasing the participation rates in female entrepreneurship, fostering and building your capability to give you the best chance of reaching your full economic potential.
