Are you feeling stuck or maybe like you’re treading water? Take comfort in knowing that it’s part of the process of growth and that feeling often intensifies right before a major breakthrough to uplevel your business.
Usually our immediate instinct is to ignore it and somehow hope that everything will sort itself out and we can just ride the feeling through. But you’re not going to do this as it will in know way help in building a business capable of sustainable and profitable growth.
Below are some strategies to try when you’re feeling off your game.
Take Action!
Doing something, getting into action, is critical to getting unstuck. Action takes further action, creating momentum.
If we think of everything we have to do, we feel overwhelmed. If we do the one thing we need to do, we make progress.
Change Your Perspective.
Don’t sit and stare at your laptop or shuffle papers around. Go and do something that brings you joy, even if it’s just for 10 mins. Spend time with your family or friends, go get a massage, exercise, whatever it is you want to do.
It’s about shifting your focus and energy to another domain of your life and giving your brain a break. Don’t feel guilty about having a break to refocus and studies show that when we are relaxed we are most productive.
Get Support
You don’t need to do it all on your own.
Check Yourself
There’s no way to put this delicately, so stay present here. Check yourself.
Do some of the problems lie with you? Maybe you’re just not as productive as you used to be. Are you keeping up with the fast moving changes in business? To be at the top of your game you need to be healthy, physically and mentally.
You need to get really specific to find out what’s going on as it’s hard to move forward until you understand why you’re stuck.
Reconnect to Your Why
Have you lost sight of what’s important to you and the bigger picture? Why did you start your business in the first place, what driving factors were behind it?
Take 5 minutes to sit down and write down what you want to achieve from your business and what it means to you.
Promote, Promote, Promote
Are you stuck because you’re not bringing in new clients? Have you lost touch with the basics of business? If you don’t focus on marketing and let people know you’re out there, how are you meant to bring those $$$$ in? No one will come looking for you if they don’t know you exist.
Brainstorm
What are your options? Are you stuck and feeling like there’s no way out because you can’t identify any possibilities?
Expand your mind and open your thinking and take the time to brainstorm new ideas. Do this without any distractions. It could be sitting outside in the sunshine or at your desk with pen and paper. Whatever works for you.
It might be that you simply have to let go of what’s not working.
Increase your Prices
How can this help right? It might seem to be an out of left field strategy, but have you lost your mojo because you haven’t updated your prices in ages and feel like you’re working for nothing or giving way too much?
You might be increasing clients but is your profit increasing as well? If not, it’s hard to feel like a success, so hike those prices!
And to be clear I’m not suggesting doubling your prices overnight.
